DA MIMAROPA Turnover P6M Worth Of MPW Facilities in Aborlan

Department of Agriculture MiMaRoPa headed by Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Dr. Louella Rowena J. Lorenzana led the turnover of the Mango Pulp Weevil (MPW) Detection center with x-ray machine at Aborlan, Palawan on December 6, 2016.

The ceremony leaded by RTD Lorenzana, Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) representative, Engr. Fernando K. Baaco, Aborlan Mayor Jaime M. Ortega, Vice Mayor Lito O. Tito, Sangguniang Bayan members, Municipal Agriculturist (MA) Clemente Cacatian and farmers from Aborlan Mango Growers Association with by their President Mr. Ramiro Evangelista.

The people of Aborlan represented by Mayor Ortega were glad that they were able to receive this kind of facility from the DA."Labis kaming nagpapasalamat sa mga natanggap naming mula kay Direktor Santiago. Dahil dito, hindi na naming kailangang pumunta pa ng Puerto Princesa para lang magpa x-ray ng mga mangga namin." Mayor Ortega said.

The MPW Detection Center together with the X-ray Machine is substantial to the farmers especially to the mango growers in the municipality and the mango farmers of Southern Palawan.

Through this, they can now detect the mangoes infested with MPW. Thus, they will be able to sell their products outside their vicinity.
