A Civil Society Organization (CSO) Consultation on the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office MiMaRoPa 2018 Plans and Budget held last February 27, 2017 at the Conference Hall, ATI Building.
The Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) Chairman Mr. Melquiades Macalintal. Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) Chairman of Occidental Mindoro Alfonso Esguera Jr., PAFC Chairman of Palawan Mr. Roger Garinga, PAFC Chairman of Romblon Mr. Nemuel Motin and PAFC Vice Chairman of Marinduque Mr. Roque Magculang, CSO chairperson of Romblon Ms. Nelly Taupo and CSO chairperson of Occidental Mindoro Mr. Ronaldo Paglicawan and the focal person of the different banner programs, chief of the divisions and the head of the department attended the said consultation meeting.
The program officially started with a message from Regional Executive Director Atty. Cipriano G. Santiago. On his message, he mentioned that this kind of meeting is important because it can determine if the budget allocated per program for the provinces is enough. He also acknowledged the importance of presenting the budget proposals of the banner programs to the CSO as they can give their comments and suggestions right after every presentation. Lastly, he looked forward for a meaningful and fruitful consolidation meeting between the CSO and the department.
Afterwards, the Regional Corn and Cassava Focal Person, Engr. Ma. Christine Inting, followed by Ms. Corazon Sinnung, Regional HVCDP Focal Person, Mr. Ronald Degala, Rice Report Officer, Dr. Ma. Teresa Altayo, Regional Livestock Focal Person and Benjamin Gardoce, Organic Agriculture Report Officer presented their program’s plan and budget proposals for 2018.
After every presentations, the CSO raised their concerns and commented on each presenters that was answered by the program focal person or by Dir. Santiago.
The consolidation meeting was a success. Thus, it provided a clearer picture on the budgets intended per program and they corrected and clarified the additional programs that is suitable for the needs of the farmers in the region.
