16 AEWs In MIMAROPA Hailed Among The Top 100 National Quality Corn Achievers

In line with the celebration of the 14th National Corn Congress, Department of Agriculture (DA) with Philippine Maize Federation (PhilMaize) has awarded 2018’s top 100 agricultural extension workers (AEWs), in their 6th National Quality Corn Achievers Awards, and among its 16 awardees came from the MIMAROPA Region.

The 16 outstanding AEWs from MIMAROPA were Jhoan A. Escalona- Ortega from Oriental Mindoro; Josefina D. Villa, Dante S. Basilio, Darius N. Toriana, Nerissa G. Arellano, Jenny R. Tria, Lorenzo T. Torregoza, Enrique I. Arile, Eva P. Abeleda, Henry B. Saulog, Myra Lyn DF. Adriano, Amelita S. Apoderado, Mary Darish M. Agito, and Rochelle G. Gigante from Occidental Mindoro. While from Palawan are Jaena V. Conales, and Romeo Biobe P. Palao.

All of them received P20, 000 cash and a plaque of recognition.

Outstanding provinces, municipality, municipal agriculturist, corn and cassava coordinators as well as the best regional team were also hailed in the ceremony.

This awarding is set to recognize the efforts made by the LGUs and AEWs in uplifting the corn production of the country. As PhilMaize President Engr. Roger Navarro said, “this award will put more effort to the recipients to do more in improving the corn production of their respective places and eventually the whole country.” The award-giving body also hopes that the awardees will also be an inspiration to other AEWs to work harder.

The event was headed by PhilMaize President Engr. Navarro, Philmaize Chairman Emeritus Mr. Roderico R. Bioco, DA-Undersecretary for Operations Engr. Ariel T. Cayanan, Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness Dir. Andrew B. Villacorta, Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Head Dir. Christopher Morales and Agricultural Training Institute Director (ATI) Dr. Luz A. Taposok.

The DA-MiMaRoPa delegates were led by Regional Executive Director Antonio G. Gerundio, Regional Technical Director (RTD) for operations Dr. Louella Rowena J. Lorenzana, Corn program Coordinator Engr. Ma Christine Inting and Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS) head Baby Clariza M. San Felipe.

The 2nd Cornucopia and 2nd Cassava Cluster Management Excellence Awards (CCMEA) were also part of the ceremony.
